Buddy Walk of Buffalo Niagara (How we started...)
The Buddy Walk of Buffalo Niagara was formed in 1997 as the Buddy
Walk of Niagara and Affiliate Organization of the National Down
Syndrome Society of New York, New York. We assumed our new name
Buddy Walk Buffalo-Niagara to include our neighboring families from Erie
County. We formed as a small group of 3 parents to help raise positive
awareness about the abilities of people born with Down Syndrome and to
help maximize opportunities in the community to include them in all
aspects of community living. Today we represent over 500 families and
friends in WNY! We continue in our mission to support national efforts
and local community needs for education, research, and advocacy.
