| Living and Learning with Down Syndrome Today A New EDUCATION & INFORMATION RESOURCE ESTABLISHED IN 2006! The Buddy Walk of Buffalo Niagara enthusiastically announces the creation of a new Resource Reading Corner at the Lewiston Public Library. The beautifully designed yet warm and relaxed area of the library is completely devoted to every matter thinkable about people living and learning with Down Syndrome today! The material spans fiction to non-fiction as well as research based literature that will hold the interest of any child, adult, and professional who serves our children and families. This collaborative endeavor with the Lewiston Public Library and NIOGA was made possible through contributions to the Buddy Walk 2006 in memory of Mrs. Angela R. Sirianni and "Paulie G". Graczyk. |
Buddy Walk of Buffalo Niagara (How we started...) The Buddy Walk of Buffalo Niagara was formed in 1997 as the Buddy Walk of Niagara and Affiliate Organization of the National Down Syndrome Society of New York, New York. We assumed our new name Buddy Walk Buffalo-Niagara to include our neighboring families from Erie County. We formed as a small group of 3 parents to help raise positive awareness about the abilities of people born with Down Syndrome and to help maximize opportunities in the community to include them in all aspects of community living. Today we represent over 500 families and friends in WNY! We continue in our mission to support national efforts and local community needs for education, research, and advocacy. |
